Mott Community College’s next Academic Dean of Technology

RPA Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark W. McK. Bannatyne, Ph.D., as Mott Community College’s next Academic Dean of Technology. Dr. Bannatyne comes to the College from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), where he serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Information and Graphics Technology. Additionally, Dr. Bannatyne holds concurrent appointments as Chair of the Department of Industrial Design at the University of Information Technology and Management (UITM) in Rzeszow, Poland, and as Professor Doctor of Habilitation, Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Communication and Management in Poznan, Poland. Previously, Dr. Bannatyne served in successive appointments as the Chair of the Department of Design and Communication Technology and the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology.

He has overseen undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs and has led recruitment, retention, and program growth initiatives. He has also led strategic planning efforts for the departments for which he served as chair and has developed multiple academic programs, including a program in Motorsports and a 2+2 Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology. In addition to a track record of administrative success, Dr. Bannatyne is a seasoned teacher and has taught classes in Computer Graphics and CADD, Manufacturing and Construction, Professional Teacher Education, and Technology Theory. Dr. Bannatyne has also been recognized for his outstanding work in building international partnerships with institutions of higher education around the world, and he has served as the Special Advisor on International Engagement to the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI and as a Fulbright Scholar in Poland and Russia on five occasions. Other previous appointments include his serving as Associate Professor and Acting Chair in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University, Assistant Professor of Instruction and Curricular Studies at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Instructor of Industrial Technology Education Department at Utah State University, and Coordinator of the Associate Drafting Program in the Industrial Technology Education Department, also at Utah State University. Dr. Bannatyne earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Purdue University, his M.Sc. in Industrial Technology and B.Sc. in Industrial Teacher Education from Utah State University, and his Certificate in Machine Tool Technology from British Columbia Institute of Technology. RPA Inc. wishes Dr. Bannatyne and Mott Community College great success in their new partnership.
