Millersville University – Vice President for Student Affairs

Mary Beth Bankson Williams, Ph.D. has been appointed as the next Vice President for Student Affairs at Millersville University.  Williams currently serves at the Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.  In that capacity, she oversees NCAA Division III Athletics, dining and conference services, campus security and parking, health and counseling services, career development, the Single Parent Scholars Program, international student scholar services, the federal grant funded Phoenix Against Violence program, student activities and orientation, the Chaplain’s Office and Bonner Leadership Program, and the eSports Program. Prior to Wilson, Williams served in various student development capacities at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Originally from central Arkansas, Williams received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rhodes College, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Memphis, and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.  Her dissertation was entitled “Emotional Intelligence and Academic Success in College.”  As a first-generation college graduate, she believes in the transformational power of education and enjoys every opportunity to engage with students and empower staff to innovatively support students.  As a professional who enjoys collaborative work, she has a strong background in Title IX training, strategic planning, grant writing, crisis management, budget development, social justice and diversity training, and community building.
