Howard University – Dean of the Graduate School

RPA Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dana Williams as the next Dean of Graduate Studies at Howard University. Dr. Williams has held several leadership positions at Howard University, including Interim Dean of Graduate Studies and Chair of the Department of English. Prior to her tenure at Howard University, Dr. Williams held faculty appointments at Duke University, Louisiana State University, and Northwestern University. In addition to her career in higher education, Dr. Williams is the past president of the College Language Association and the Association of Departments of English. In 2016, President Barack Obama nominated Dr. Williams to serve as a member of the National Council on the Humanities. She currently serves as a member of the Council of Graduate Schools’ Committee on Research and Information Services, the Advisory Board for the Hurston-Wright Foundation and the Center for Black Literature, and as the president of the Toni Morrison Society. Dr. Williams has a BA from Grambling State University and her MA and PhD from Howard University.
