Harrisburg University of Science and Technology has appointed Dr. Christopher M. Reber as its next President. Dr. Reber has devoted his entire career to higher education, including many years in four-year and graduate universities and systems in Pennsylvania followed by two successful comprehensive community college presidencies. Born and raised in York, he has experienced every sector of postsecondary education in Pennsylvania, serving mostly smaller institutions and the transformative opportunities they provide for student learning and engagement. Before joining Harrisburg University, Dr. Reber served as the eighth President of Hudson County Community College (HCCC) in New Jersey where he oversaw dramatic increases in student retention and enrollment. Prior to arriving at HCCC, Dr. Reber served as President of Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) near Pittsburgh, PA, where he led workforce partnerships in support of the regional business, technology, and manufacturing industries. Earlier in his career, Dr. Reber served as Executive Dean and a Cabinet officer at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he was the Academic Dean for the University’s School of Nursing and Allied Health, and Venango School of Humanities, Sciences and Technology. Dr. Reber’s career also includes 18 years at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, where he served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer; Chief Advancement, Alumni, and University Relations Officer; and taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Reber holds a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College, a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He also holds a post-graduate certificate from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
